Why your support matters

Streaming is wonderful for helping music travel, but it takes an enormous number of plays to generate meaningful income.

Apple Music reports an average royalty of around US$0.01 per play. That means approximately:

• 1,000 plays = US$10

• 10,000 plays = US$100

• 100,000 plays = US$1,000

Those royalties are paid to rights holders and may then be divided between artists, songwriters, producers, labels, publishers and distributors.

Spotify doesn’t have a fixed per-stream rate. Its royalties are calculated using an artist’s share of total listening, with the final amount varying by country, listener subscription and contractual arrangements.

Your Patreon support provides a much more dependable way for me to keep writing, recording and sharing music. It helps cover studio time, production, mixing, mastering—and the hours of work that happen before a finished song reaches you.
